Headphone Sculpture

3D design, animation
someform Studio Project
2024

Project Overview

Headphone Sculpture explores the concept of abstraction in relation to products; how an object is simply constructed by abstract shapes until someone defines its function. The orange mini headphones indicate that when there is a multitude of a product, the value is lost and the product once again becomes an abstract shape.

Lisa Tobiasson’s Role

The video is Lisa Tobiasson’s individual design and animation for a project at someform Studio during internship spring 2024.

Brief

The overarching theme of the project is ‘the lifespan of products’, from which free design explorations were made. Technical specifications: none.

Early Exploration

Conceptually, the orange mini headphones explore how the headphones, when scaled down, become abstract shapes. From a technical point of view, the focus was on animation of the black headphones as well as the rigid body simulation of the orange mini headphones.

Breakdown of final version. The headphones falling down from above are clearly visible as headphones. In contrast, the mini orange headphones are not immediately recognized as headphones, but rather as abstract shapes and building blocks.
