Motion Identity Concept
2026

Ringen (The Ring) is a Denmark-based fantasy reality show concept, in which nine participants are headed out to destroy a ring. However, if someone steals the ring for themselves, they win 300000 Danish kroner. Who will be devoured by greed, and who will choose fellowship?

Brief

The project originates from a module at Royal Danish Academy, with the brief to independently create a title sequence for a self-invented streaming series show.

Motion

The motion identity is based on rotation as a symbol for the hypnotizing power of the ring. Furthermore, dramatic slow-motion was incorporated, to represent the reality drama genre.

Design

It was important to make the intro feel Danish; typically known as functional and clean. Hence, the video uses a desaturated colour palette, and applies gold colour intentionally to avoid a feeling of excess.

Iteration

Treetop exploration. In the final version, a more dull and cold look was chosen to align with the Danish style.
Exploration of a typical Danish beech forest. The colours were desaturated in the final version to look more Danish.
Night time version that was later eliminated, to make the narrative more focused.
Development of hand-shot, including a suspense diagonal angle.
Title card development. In the final version, the golden colour was swapped for an off-white, to avoid competing with the ring as the main object.
